Some women prefer to have one and only midwife around during their labour and delivery. Unfortunately it is not always possible, because midwives who are on duty have to take care of more than one childbirth at the same time. If you want to feel more comfortable you can use your personal clothes. You will need socks and slippers after delivery. Please bring along comfortable underwear and hygiene products (pads) &#8211; Maxi or Goodnight towels are best. When you have a support person with you then he\/she will need slippers and comfortable clothing as well. Please note, that there is no laundry service for the clothing you brought.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Toiletries<\/strong><br>Please bring along toothbrush and \u2013paste, shampoo, showergel, also hygienic lipstick and face\/handcream if necessary and a towel for taking shower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Baby clothing and care<\/strong><br>Clothes, blankets and diapers for the baby are provided during the stay at the Women\u2019s Clinic, but if you wish, you can use your own. Please note, that there is no laundry service for the clothing you brought. You should bring baby\u2019s clothing only for leaving the hospital. You will also need a car seat for the newborn.<br>Scissors for cutting baby\u2019s nails might come handy. Pacifiers and baby bottles are not necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Food\/drinks<\/strong><br>Women usually prefer not to eat during active labour but if you are still at the beginning of the process you can eat something light, for example a yoghurt, some fruits (fresh or dried), energybars, chocolate for fast energy etc. The best drink is always still water. You should consider that your support person also needs something to eat and drink. There are some vending machines at the hospital and a cafeteria (located quite far from the delivery unit).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\">It is best to you organize the bag with necessary things some weeks before you are due, so you don\u2019t need to worry about the packing or anything left behind, when you hurry to the Women\u2019s Clinic in labour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Postpartum department<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\">There are 13 private family rooms and 9 regular rooms for two postpartum women and their newborns.<br>The regular room is free of charge and has two beds with separating curtain, cribs for newborns, infant changing table and toilet\/shower.<br>The chargeable family room costs 50 EUR per day and it has one big family bed, a table with chairs, a crib for newborn, infant changing table, toilet\/shower, TV\/internet and 3 meals are served for two persons per day. If you want to use the private family room service, it is necessary to inform the midwife on arrival. Booking beforehand is not possible. Moving from regular room to private room is not possible.<br>The approximate stay at the hospital after delivery is 3 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\">In every room there is a phone and you can contact the midwife 24 hours a day. Midwives will help you with breastfeeding, newborn care and other advice needed. Newborns are observed by midwives and neonatologists (paediatrician).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\">On the second or third day newborns will have their first vaccinations and the blood screening test is taken from the baby to exclude the possibility of two serious diseases &#8211; phenylketonuria and hypothryroidism which can cause health problems if not discovered and treated early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Visiting hours<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-el wp-block-paragraph\">Visiting hours are from 17:00 to 19:00. Up to two visitors without any illness symptoms are allowed to visit, children are not allowed. Please leave the outdoor clothing in the wardrobe when you come to visit. Please note that postpartum department is primarily a place to recover and rest from the delivery. Successful breastfeeding is possible only if mother and baby have enough rest. This is the time to get to know your baby and baby\u2019s needs.
