For those who take their health seriously, the sports medicine department offers the following services:

  • Consultation with a sports medicine specialist
  • Consultation with a sports traumatologist
  • Nutritional counselling
  • Assessment of physical development (anthropometry, body composition tests)
  • Assessment of physical form, stress test – including electrocardiography at rest and during exercise (EKG stress test)
  • Assessment of aerobic capacity, stress test – measuring oxygen consumption during the stress test by means of exhaled breath analysis (maximum oxygen consumption VO2 max, anaerobic threshold AnT, aerobic threshold AerT)
  • Capillary lactate measurement during exercise
  • Assessment of respiratory function at rest and during exercise (spirography)
  • 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
  • Echocardiography
  • Ultrasound scan of the skeletal and muscular system
  • Foot pressure analysis (Footscan) and rehabilitation based on its results, prescription and provision of insoles adjusting individual biomechanics
  • Extacorporeal shockwave therapy, or ESWT
  • Humac Norm isokinetic tests and therapy
  • Manual review and correction, manual therapy combined with various physiotherapy techniques
  • Athletic performance DNA testing
  • Weight management DNA testing
  • Various laboratory tests performed by the hospital's central laboratory to assess overall health and the impact of physical activity
  • Complementary testing (including MRI and other imaging scans), consultations and therapy in other speciality clinics of the University of Tartu Hospital
  • Medical workout counselling to determine the optimal level of physical activity
  • All modern rehabilitation procedures, including sports physiotherapy
