maris jesseDr Maris Jesse holds a medical degree from Tartu University, Estonia and MSc degrees from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the London School of Economics and Political Science, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. She has led the Estonian Health Insurance Fund as Chairman of Management Board, worked as senior health specialist at the World Bank and as health policy analyst at PRAXIS Center for Policy Studies and also served as the Director of the National Institute for Health Development
Estonia. Dr Jesse served as Member of Executive Board of WHO 2009–2012, and represented the WHO European Region in the working group of WHO governance reform in 2015. Dr Jesse has been an advocate of public health and health systems development, nationally and internationally. She led the Government Taskforce on Injury Prevention between 2013 and 2014, is a member of Government Committee on Equal Rights, and a member of Committee on Drug Prevention.
Maris Jesse is a Deputy Secretary General on Health at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
